GEORGIAN HOUSE STAIRCASE

Staircase Render 2.jpg

About

MFM Design were asked to help visualise the staircase in a new build Georgian House in Oxfordshire. Working closely with the Architect, Structural Engineer, Joiners and Client, a detailed 3D model of the hallway and staircase was drawn in Sketchup.

The model included accurate data taken from the Architects plans and sections to form the hallway which included the structural information supplied by the engineer to check that the proposed steel work didn’t foul the stair opening.

The staircase was then modelled from the joiners’ drawings including details that were agreed between them and the client. Other joinery including skirting and architraves was added, and an idea of furniture and finishing were included. The whole model was then processed through a rendering software to create a visual for the client’s approval.

A physical model was also created using a 3-D printer and cardboard. The SketchUp file was split into parts that fitted the bed of the 3-D printer.

These were then easily exported to a printable filetype which were printed and easily glued together.

Larger planes of the model were formed using various cardboard elements to form different parts of the structure.
