About

MF Model Design was instructed to help with a large house build in Oxfordshire. The client had brought a 21 acre plot with planning approval for a 22,000sq ft Arts and Crafts style house.

Being such a large house the client struggled to visualise both the exterior and interior spaces. A large detailed model of the approved design was created using SketchUp and then revised and developed. Elements of the approved design were amended to suit the clients preferred layout and preferred style of the of the house.

To further help the client to visualise the designs, physical models were created from card and 3D printing. Certain elements of the house were formed at a larger 1:50 scale. Eventually most of the house was created in model form, giving a true feeling of the form of completed building.

Working closely with the Architect and Structural Engineer the model was worked up to include structural and construction elements to create a concise design that was accurate to that which was to be constructed. External detailing and Interior finishes, chosen by the client were also added to the model, and this was then processed through an external rendering company to create photorealistic images
