We are also often used for many smaller projects. It is often beneficial to visualise a product, new piece of furniture, an internal space or a complete building before it is built.
External building models help visualise both the massing of structures and the positioning of openings to allow sunlight
into / shade the properties. Sun path analysis can be shown within SketchUp, or physical models can be aligned to match
the orientation of the actual proposed build thus showing
actual light paths.
Popular internal spaces that are asked to be modelled are kitchens, staircases and extensions. These are usually large changes to clients’ property that are expensive. Seeing the design in 3-D helps the client make the decision by visualising the space before it is built.
Most models are drawn in SketchUp as this enables them to be viewed easily in 3-D through the software. The model can be shared to the client to view via a web viewer.
It can also be exported to an external rendering package to create a photorealistic image, or to be printed as a model on a 3-D printer.
